The department of post (India Post), Government of India, have arranged to release the stamp depicting
the portrait of Sri Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavadar on Dec 27th 2009 at Madurai. The release of this stamp is
the result of ceaseless effort done by Srimath VenkataRamana Bhagavadar Seva Samajam, Madurai. (See more about this on History Page )
We are pleased to launch this site on the release date of Indian Postal stamp of Sri Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavadar on Dec 27th 2009.
Sri Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavadar (1781 - 1874) was from Sourashtra community and was
a prime disciple of Saint Tyagarajar. He preserved the work of his Guru Saint Tyagarajar by writing the
krithis in palm leaves and provided to the world of music lovers.
Sri VenkataRamana Bhagavadar also a scholar in Sanakrit, Telugu and Sourashtram. He also composed krithis in Sanskrit, Telugu and Sourashtram.
Sri Walajapet VenkataRamana Bhagavadar's son Sri KrishnaSwami Bhagavadar also a sishya of Saint Tyagarajar.
Saint Tyagarajar had good trust on Venkataramana Bhagavadar.
To show the evidence of good trust between Saint Tyagarajar and Sri Walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavadar, Saint Tyagarajar had given his Paadugai and
Thambura to Venkataramana Bhagavadar as the Guru predicted his final day on earth. Those items are preserved by Sourashtra Sabha Museum, Madurai.
